Known among my fly fishing friends as the "Fish Pimp" - or Ben to the rest of the world - I am here to help you unlock the mysteries of fly fishing. With my 30 years of fly fishing experience, I can bring value to fly fishers of all levels. By the end of your two day adventure, you will not only have had a great time on the water, you will leave with the basic knowledge and tools to be a successful Stillwater fly fisher.

This course is designed to be fun and offer insight to beginner Stillwater fly fishers.

Two day course structure as follows:

  • Course fee $200.00 per person. Group rates available upon request. Fee includes the use of basic gear. 

  • Stillwater Trout Hunter flies will be provided at a cost of $5.00 per fly

  • Personal resource for future fly fishing endeavors

DAYONE

Off the water course:

  • Learn about trout behavior, when they feed, where they feed

  • Learn about what equipment works best for lakes

  • In-depth discussion of fly lines that have proven successful

  • Learn about leaders and tippets

  • Getting the proper gear together 

  • How to properly attach the tippet to the leader

  • How to tie on the fly to get the most movement from the fly

  • Learn which flies work the best and when to use them - conditions on the water are always changing, knowing which flies to choose will give you the advantage.

  • Questions & answers to unlock the mystery

  • Approximately 4 hours

DAYTWO

On The Water Training And Instructions:

  • How to safely get in your float tube

  • Learn the proper gear preparation 

  • Learn how to cast your fly rod

  • Learn the importance of keeping the tip in the water

  • Learn how to properly retrieve the fly

  • Learn how to play the fish

  • Learn how to release the fish

  • Take photos of your success and experience 

  • Approximately 4 hours

Basic gear will be provided, if needed. 

Stillwater Trout Hunter flies will be provided at a cost of $5.00 per fly.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING:

  • Waders

  • Wading boots
